"Why don't we travel more for tournaments"

There is plenty of competition for our players in this region of the country for our players to challenge themselves. There are also a ton of schools in the greater northeast across all divisions. Most of our players have and will continue to land at schools in the region – with a lot of our network being based in this area, we have strong connections to coaches/schools we utilize for our players. We have had plenty of players go to school outside of New England where we utilize our network and players attend school/area specific camps for these more narrow focuses.

We feel it is best to utilize the time in the summer to have games within a couple hours of travel time. Not only do we practice more than other programs, the cost of traveling to these bigger tournaments can create a major burden on families financially, as team price will have to go up in addition to substantial additional travel costs. Looking at it from a big picture standpoint, the extra thousands of dollars we save by not going to these tournaments can be used on resources (and time) for developing skills and physical tools that will ultimately yield more, better and longer lasting benefits to the player.

"Why aren't we in this perfect game tournament"  "What schools or coaches are going to be at this tournament/game"

We get a ton of questions about tournaments and exposure – what/how many coaches will be there etc.   We always try to put our teams in tournaments where coaches will be at, but there is no perfect system to who shows up when. Coaches have players they want to see and they are always changing. We also have to thoughtfully schedule tournaments to fit well with the remainder of our schedule. We use our trusted friends down at NEB MA to give us insight on what the best options are for our group. NEB MA has been arguably the top college developmental program in New England for over a decade and we work closely with them to ensure we utilize the smartest and best opportunities for our program.

The focus on playing good baseball and winning in the tournament games you play. Program reputation is based on success of the teams and players, in addition to reputable coaches who teach their players to do things right - not who signs up for what tournament.  The players who consistently put in the work and are good enough have always been seen so we continue to push for that to be the focus.

"I heard a lot about Perfect Game, USA Baseball, Select Baseball, etc. How can we learn more about the path and exposure our boys need to continue to grow and develop?"

There are a lot of services out there. The good news is you don’t really have to be that concerned about any of them right now, or quite frankly ever. Those services mainly run tournaments or events, but most of the events are bad paid showcases that we would steer you away from. The better showcase events are college run camps that invite other schools and are a better investment for your money. Most of these are money grabs, including USA events especially at early ages. If your son is good enough, we can help find connections via our network of coaches and scouts or they will find you.

The reality is the majority of our players we get are going to play college regionally and there are plenty of opportunities to be seen. Being able to produce on the field and developing skills/strength/speed has to be the focus for all players, and the mix of potential upside and how advanced/developed that player is will help dictate what their route is.

For right now, the focus is just purely getting better and more athletic!
